Its great in customization - you can turn off the crazy stuff if you want, and play without any heroes, abilities and such at all. Some maps have multi AI factions (meaning allies on your side, several armies/factions on the enemies side) and while I like the idea, the AI is not yet up to it and does weird things.īut I don't think its a bad game. I feel sometimes they are trying too hard. Also a lot of rare "prototype units" and such stuff you can buy. Strong "alternate history" vibes which other players may like better, but I don't - near the end of Spanish Civil War DLC you can make your core up almost of soviet loot units. Some very hard maps that are only hard because the designers made some unbreakable "spawn boxes" for the enemy. There are some end boss units at least in DLCs 1938-1940. In the DLCs there is a lot of stuff that I don't like. You as the general also have perks and weaknesses that account for all units. For example, you can assign like an "unload immediately" perk for your 8.8 and it will become a super fast fire brigade unit that hops back and forth along the front and shoot planes and tanks alike. You can get a ton of heroes for your units and will be able to create fully unrealistic "super units". If you play casual, like i do: the game concept relies on abilites and perks. "Gamification" is the key word here for me. But the game doesn't really urge me to go back.

Its certainly fun and I played all DLCs, and will do so as huge PG/PC fan who played almost everything of that series.
